Equipment

  • B&H – The best place on the net for photography gear. Extremely prompt shipping too. I placed an order Sunday night. Arrived Wednesday morning – all the way from New York!

Apps

  • Pro HDR (Android and iPhone) – “If you ever take photos using your iPhone, this app is a must-have.” – Gizmodo
  • Tweetcaster (Android) – By far the best Twitter app for Android, in my opinion.
  • Evernote (Android and iPad) – www.evernote.com – Where would I be about without this resource? It serves as a fantastic appendage to my ageing addled cerebrum, and with Android, iPad & Web apps I can access it from anywhere.
  • Nozbe (Android and iPad) – Having tried several out, this is my latest GTD (Get Things Done) resource of choice, and it links to my evernote account and google calendars. Providing I remember to put tasks in it, I can never forget to do them.
  • Zinio (iPad) – I consume a lot of media, especially printed media. But no longer do I have to wait for the magazines to be printed, shipped and delivered by the postman. They’re pushed down to my iPad which is with me always just ready for a spare 10 minutes at the dentist.
  • Torch Flashlight (Android) – A very handy little app when you’re out after dark on a remote hillside and it dawns on you that you’ve left your torch behind in the car!
  • TwitBird Pro (iPad) – The best (and most reliable) Twitter app on the iPad. I use Tweetdeck on my Macs, but found the iPad version to be about as stable as a teenager on a stag party in Blackpool.
  • Outdoors (iPad) – Maps maps maps. I love ‘em. They’re very useful for a landscape photographer, and not just for planning. Extremely handy to have them with you when you’re out and about and on the verge of getting lost on some remote hillside. The Ordnance Survey maps themselves aren’t cheap, but a fantastic resource nonetheless.
